New students admitted to various B.Tech programmes in RIET were given a warm welcome and briefing to quality People, Policies and Processes. S GurvinderSingh Bahra, Chaimrman RBGI inaugurated the three day event between 6th– 8th Aug 2014, which included two guest speakers, and various functionaries and leadership at campus and the Institute.
To help new students acclimate themselves to the institute, a three day orientation programme from 6-8 August was organized for the fresh B. Tech. aspirants of 2014 batch at the Rayat Institute of Engineering and Information Technology, Rayat-Bahra Ropar Campus. Group Chairman Sh. Gurvinder Singh Bahra was the chief guest of the occasion. The program began with a lamp lighting by offering of prayers and garlands to goddess Saraswati. Mr. Bahra greeted the students and assured them of group's commitment in delivering quality controlled and affordable academic programs in a supportive teaching-learning environment and disseminating knowledge through research/teaching excellence, community involvement and industry-institute partnerships. Campus Director, Prof. S. C. Bedi, Joint Campus Director Prof. Suresh Seth and Director Engineering Prof. Priyavrat Thareja also delivered their welcome address to the students. They congratulated the students for selecting Rayat-Bahra group of institute to give shape to their career and inspired them to work extraordinarily hard to achieve their goals and to reach the heights of success. The students were acquainted with the need to acquire essential graduate engineering attributes as per international standards to meet the career challenges ahead. The Deans and Heads introduced their departmental structures, facilities and areas of specializations of the experienced faculty to the students. They expressed their commitment to facilitate the students to effectively Learn, Innovate and Excel in their respective areas of specialization so as to emerge as globally competitive professionals. During the orientation session, new students were familiarized with the various rules and regulations and introduced to the faculty and respective mentors. The senior faculty addressed and welcomed the new batch of students and motivated them to study with complete dedication and sincerity and further assured them of absolute faculty support throughout the four year programme. Finally, Prof. Priyavrat Thareja, Director RIEIT, apprised students with academic philosophy of RIEIT and how important it is to imbibe and follow the philosophy during their academic rigors at the institute. He exhorted the students to work hard on their goals so as to emerge as responsible citizens and contribute effectively towards the advancement of engineering, science and technology.
The 3-D Deliberations ( 6-8th Aug 2014)
The students were briefed towards the scope in careers chosen and the challenges ahead by the HOD's, who were earlier introduced to the audience by Director Principal. The objective was to acclimatize the people about Policies, Processes, and People, at RIEIT, and all 4 Deans, TPO and the several functionaries talked to them.
The students were shown the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutes corporate movie. They were briefed by senior/old topper students also who spoke about their experiences and environment at RIEIT and the Ropar Campus. The various officer Incharges of activities and Clubs also introduced them to the several opportunities of learning and growth. They were led across the campus, and shown the two cars - formula car (0-110 km/hr in 6 secs) and the Super Mileage Car (displaying 250 km/ liter consumption of petrol). The students were distributed the Student Handbook 2014-2015 also developed for the purpose.
An expert talk by Mr Balwant Gurunay, on Life Skils and by Mr Deepesh Gohel (Khyali Arts Rajkot) on Tools and Techniques for Engineering Conceptualisation were also held at a part of orientation programme. The vote of thanks was given by Prof SS Sekhon, Vice Principal and Head Applied Science Department.
