    Second Year Engineering students of Rayat Institute of Engineering & Information Technology extended a warm welcome to the new comers with great zeal and enthusiasm at Institute premises today with the organization of Freshers' Party "Agaaz 2016". The celebration was a massive hit and such a welcome warmed the hearts of all the new students in the Institute. It not only made the first year students feel welcomed into the college but also connected them remarkably with their seniors and teachers.

    S.Paramjit Singh, Addl. Dy. Commissioner, S.B.S.Nagar was the Chief-Guest on the occasion and the function was presided over by Rayat-Bahra Group Chairman S.Gurvinder Singh Bahra. Speaking on the occasion, S. Paramjit Singh signified the meaning of Agaaz by contemplating that "Well Begin is half done". Group Chairman S. Gurvinder Singh Bahra in his address welcomed the Chief Guest and said that Freshers' Day is meant for interaction between seniors and freshers. He welcomed all the students who had joined the institution and motivated them to keep alive traditions and values of Rayat Bahra Group. The event was marked by group dances, skits, songs, play, modelling and other artistic activities. The high voltage music and dance performances doled out by a mixed bunch of first year and second year students were a special attraction.

    Prof. S. C. Bedi, Campus Director, Rayat-Bahra Ropar Campus, in his address thanked the dignitaries for sparing their time for attending the function. He welcomed the new entrants to the Rayat Bahra family and exhorted them to make best use of coming four years stay at the institute. He informed the students about the group and the values and traditions of Rayat - Bahra family.

    Dr. Ajay Goyal, Director-Principal of the Engineering College, addressed that hard work and discipline is the key to success. These four years are the deciding years of their career. So, they need to make consistent efforts to achieve their dream destination. Among the award winners, Mr Personality and Miss Charming tag went to Samjinder Singh and Karuna, respectively. Deepak and Manpreet bagged the title of Mr Talented and Miss Talented. Kulwinder Singh was judged Mr Fresher and Harmanjot Kaur was declared Miss Fresher.
