All the students, faculty members and employees of the Institute can register themselves for the membership of the Library. All Students, faculty and staff members are issued bar-coded patron cards. Their entitlement, in terms of the number of books that can be borrowed by them, are as follows:

All students, faculty and employees of the Institute are entitled for the membership of the Library. Library membership form is available at the Membership Counter at Central Library. The Library membership can also be availed by the retired employees and Alumni of the Institute. The Library has over 2500 valid members. For the renewal of membership contact Library membership counter.
The readers should check the books thoroughly for missing pages, chapters, etc. while getting them issued.
No book in damaged condition will be accepted from the users on return. Damaged books will have to be replaced by the borrower.
Faculty/ Student / Staff members having I- card can Self Check-in & Self Check-Out the books using Library software Self Check-in & Self Check-Out and Book Drop Box at any time till the Library is open.
If Faculty/ Student / Staff members Books can be borrowed from Circulation Counter, Central Library from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM during the weekdays.
Following is the approved criteria for recovering the cost of lost books by Library members:
The cost of the book in foreign currency to be charged at the current conversion rate of the currency.
Lost book should be replaced by a new book with overdue charges , if any and with processing charges of Rs. 100/- per book.
Minimum of Rs. 300/- to be charged if the cost of the book is less than Rs.300/- with processing charges of Rs. 100/- per book.
Items that are returned after the due date are considered overdue. Overdue fines are assessed at the following rates:

Book Bank is housed in the Text Book section of the Central Library.Book Bank is a very good service which offers upto 6 books issued to every student for the whole semester on a very nominal rental amount and on first-cum-first serve basis on notified dates only. It has a syllabus related dedicated collection of about 6,000 books which is regularly updated. The service is available for undergraduate students only. The books from the section are in high demand as they cover the syllabus of the students.
Readers may approach the Reference and Membership Desk for information or any assistance in the use of the Library Collections and Services. Users may contact Computer Applications Division for the computerized services, CD ROM Based Search Services and Web-based electronic journals. For special information requirements, users may also reach incharges of Readers Services/Serials Division or the Librarian.
The Library maintains a separate reference collection consisting of encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, technical data, almanacs, atlases, bibliographies, etc. The reference collection is organized in the following sub-categories:
The Catalogue for journals is located on the second floor. The classified part of the Serials Catalogue provides holding information for each journal title while the alphabetical portion provides a reference to the class number which is used for shelving the bound volumes of journals. The Libsoft currently provides the current journals subscribed in print along with the issue received in the library. Shortly, the Library would also provide the holding information about all the journals.
