Electronic & Communications Engineering is the utilization of Physics & Maths when applied to practical problems in the field of communications. Electronic Communications Engineers are engaged in Research & Development, testing of the electronic equipment used in various Communications systems. It also deals with implementation of applications, principles and algorithms developed within the interdisciplinary fields.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the institute in July 2001 with an intake of 60 students in B. Tech. Electronics and Communication Engineering Programme. The intake increased to 90 students in July 2002 and 120 in July 2004. Subsequently, M. Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering was introduced in July 2008 with a sanctioned intake of 18. The department has highly qualified and dedicated faculty. HOD has wide experience in research and development. Along with regular courses, ECE Department is also running M.Tech (Part time) with an intake of 25 seats under the Regional centre of Punjab Technical University.
